About the tour we made with you: it was absolutely
great! For us you are a fantastic guide in this amazing Flinders ranges.
After a few more tours we did in WA we can say you are an absolute top
guide. You are so devoted to the area you live in and you gave us so much
information. we will never forget our stay in the Flinders ranges. We will
recommend your tours with our friends in Holland.
Thank for everything, Derek.

The full day tour
with Derek through the Flinders Ranges was a pleasure. His friendliness
and clear language has made a memorable day in our holidays. We saw lots
of animals, plants and other interesting things through all the day. Derek
explained all the Ranges (Wilpena, Elder Ranges, ABC Ranges and so on)
very detailed in a friendly way. His car was very good and the other
members of the tour were also no problem. Finally we can only say
thank your for this great and brilliant day with the hope to see you once
again in Australia (or in Germany).

It was a wonderful day. We really enjoyed every
moment. One can see you know the terrain and the love for your work could
clearly be seen.
It was very educating and you know every inch of the
Flinders Ranges!
I guarantee we love the area as much as Namibia of
which we spike so often.

Derek explained his two tours, half and full day, and
left us to decide tour and starting time that suited us. With his vast
knowledge of the history of the area, rock formations over the years,
vegetation and animal 'know how', the scenery meant so much to us.
travel was very comfortable and frequent stops for
photos or points of interest really topped it off.

As promised a couple of Photo's from our excellent
tour with you, Thank god we had a tyre blow out on our own car, as we would
never have been able to see the ranges and gorges the way you showed them to
us, very professional and Informative and of course very enjoyable sitting
back and letting you do all the hard work, especially making the coffee and
cake !! Thanks also for introducing us to your friends in the evening at the
bowling green, and of course the beer ! we thoroughly enjoyed it all, and
just one last big thanks to the Hawker community, we really enjoyed our 4
days there.
So once again many thanks for a terrific day out
.It goes without saying that I will highly recommend
your tours to my friends and enemies !
Regards Jack and of course from Sally, George, Jerry

We said that we'd
contact you, and so here we are.
We are Caro, Christian
(the Germans) and Norm (the "tour guide"), and we came with you on a full
day tour on the day (Saturday 21st Aug 2004) that we found the dead rock
wallaby, and you picked it up, put it into your esky and took it back to
the ranger. Quite a "standard" experience for tourists
Just to state again - we
had a lovely day - for my part (Norm), I will be back and will be looking
forward to another day trip, and believe me, the early (sunrise start) is
well worth it, so be warned!
We told you that we
would contact you with a recommendation of the suitability of what
accommodation we found in Broken Hill. well, we found a nice place, just
cruising the RAC Accommodation guides and looking for inspiration. We
found the "outback villas" - they aren't even vaguely outback, but they
are comfortable, quite close to town (well, everything is in Broken Hill)
and the people in charge are delightful. So, they are
Outback Villas, 2-4
Tramway Terrace, Broken Hill, phone (08) 8088 7528.
If anyone asks, the
Daydream Mine tour is well worth a visit - THAT will give people an
impression of an outback mining character - the bloke who runs it is one
out of the box. And the mine - it's not slick or anything "touristy", just
a really good impression of how it is - definitely not for the busloads of
Japanese Tourists.
So, once again, thank
you for a memorable day. You've done what any real tour guide wants to do
- made a lasting impression. I think we'll all be back!

We never got up that early in the morning as today.
However, the beautiful sunrise at the lookout was worth the effort.
We really enjoyed the economy class of your vehicle
- there's more space available than on Qantas long distance flights (just
joking).
The day trip you suggested is really great.
Especially we appreciated the huge amount of information about geology,
names of the ranges, towns, you gave us.
For other international tourists we recommend to
do the tour on a Wednesday (summer). That way you may join the Hawker fun
bowl evening. That's great fun again.
Thanks for a great day.

animals, your help and the safety driving. Your
German is pretty good! Hope to send you a few pictures of our trip to fantastic Wilpena

Thanks for the wonderful tour of the Outback. 1407 km and we're satiated,
yet ready for more. You have steered us to many sights we might otherwise have missed, and
your company has been most enjoyable. Best wishes on the adventures that lie ahead. Chris & Dave, San Diego, USA |

G'Day Deutschmate. Really enjoyed the Aussie adventure. It's always good to
have somebody abroad who knows the area quite well, especially if you are a travel writer.
Besides that, I enjoyed your company and was thrilled about the landscape. A double reason
to come back again. Be warned! Macob, Oostzaan, Netherlands |

This trip exceeded all our expectations thanks to 2
factors: the wonderful scenery and wildlife and the delight and surprise for being in such
a varied and beautiful landscape. But the lasting
impression is due to your obvious love of the country and your willingness and ability to
convey that to us.
Your personal touch, attention to detail made us feel happy
and relaxed from the moment we got into the van. Many thanks for 2 very happy days. With
best wishes for the future.

A memorable day. I so much enjoyed seeing some of
the Flinders Ranges and can well appreciate why you are so enthusiastic about the area,
together with its wildlife. I do hope that you can
develop your German connection. German guests are bound to get a super tour with you.
Good luck! With many thanks for a good day.
